How To Know God

To know God, you must know the ABC’s of life.  God created you to experience a full life here on earth (John 10:10) and He wants you to spend eternity with Him (2 Peter 3:9).  To become a Christian, you simply need to:

Admit You Need a Savior.

We’ve all disobeyed God (sinned) and earned separation from God (death).

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”  (Romans 3:23)

No matter how good you are or how hard you try, you cannot work your way into heaven.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”  (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Believe in Jesus Christ.

God gave us his son Jesus to die for our sins so that we can have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  (John 3:16)

Jesus' life was exchanged for ours to pay the penalty of death for our sins, since he was perfect and had not sinned.

"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Commit Your Life to Christ.

Simply believeing in God is not good enough.  It's a starting point.  Consider the fact that Satan and his demons believe in God.

"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."  (James 2:19)

You can believe in your mind that Jesus died for you and that God is real, but to have a relationship with Him you must ask Him to be your Lord (here on earth) and your Savior (for all eternity).

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”  (John 1:12)

To receive Christ, you can pray this prayer.  The prayer itself is not doesn't save you.  It is your faith expressed through the prayer that saves you:

Jesus, I admit I have sinned (made mistakes).  Thank you for dying for me to pay the price of death for my sins and so I could be forgiven.  I ask you to come into my life and give me eternal life.  I now give my life over to you and will follow you.  Amen.

If you just prayed that prayer...let us know by email, phone, coming to church, etc.  We would love to follow up with you and help you in your new relationship with God.  Click here for contact info.
