3 Strands Marriage Ministry

3 Strands gets is name from Ecclesiastes 4:12. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
The goal of our 3 Strands Marriage Ministry is to strengthen marriages within the body of Christ using biblical principles as our guide. We stress fellowship with each other as husband and wife, but also between couples. 3 Strands provides a fun and safe environment to listen and share common experiences that will help us understand our spouses and marriages a little better.

3 Strands LIFE Group
LIFE Groups are the life blood of East Hills and we know that. Each week we get together to learn and discuss Gods Word. It is a time of fellowship and growth.
The 3 Strands Marriage Ministry LIFE group is held on the first & third Friday of each month. We start at 7:00 P.M. The location will be announced soon. Childcare is available.

Our current study is called "Higher Love: Discovering God's Design for your Marriage" - a DVD series. Each study is a stand-alone study that encourages conversation and fellowship as well as discovering God's principles for a happy healthy marriage.
Marriage Retreat
Designed as a time to get away from one’s job(s), children, and the hustle and bustle of life, 3 Strands hosts a marriage retreat with the sole purpose of building your marriage relationship. Quality teaching, connecting with other couples, spiritual growth as individuals and as a couple, and fun time together highlight this time away.
The next retreat is being planned for 2012.
Valentine’s Event
Held in February, the Valentine’s event is for adult couples, usually held at the church, that provides a night of fun and fellowship. Childcare will be provided onsite to make it convenient for those who need it.
Koinonia Couples
A new area of ministry for us is Koinonia Couples. The idea of Koinonia Couples is to promote fellowship among couples on a closer level than LIFE Groups provide. Our Biblical foundation is found in Acts 2:24 which says,
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (NIV)
Koinonia Couples make a six month commitment to meet once each month to break bread together, pray together, and do a couples devotion during each meeting. Couples can either purchase or check out (to be returned at the end of their six month commitment) a devotional book - reserved for Koinonia Couples - that will be separate from what our LIFE Groups are using. Couples will do a short one page application and then we’ll match them together. As this ministry grows, we might have events and such for the participating couples each term.

If your marriage is rocky, having a hard time communicating, or just not sure where to go next, we would love to dialogue with you how to best help you. Many times our LIFE Group is a great place to plug in; but sometimes couples are in need of more than that so please do not hesitate to ask!
